Most buyers come for the merchandise and stay for the services. Design means interpreting a brand guideline into something a factory can produce and a printer can reproduce. Creative direction goes further and sets the photography, the palette and the tone of a range. Production is the coordination of the factory, the artwork and the schedule.
Quality control and inspection is the service that protects a date. A piece is checked against the approved proof, a garment is checked against the size chart, and a shipment is checked against the packing list before it leaves. Logistics covers the transport legs and the customs paperwork for a cross border delivery, and warehousing holds stock for a standing order.
Vendor management exists for buyers who already have factories and want them coordinated rather than replaced. Account management is the named contact who owns the relationship, and multi language packaging is a service in its own right when a programme runs in more than one market. Standard lead time on these services runs 5 to 8 working days from artwork approval.
